New Video from Fortune Auto!

August 23, 2010

Check out this new video from the Fortune Auto Time Attack Race Team!  The video highlights their time at Sebring International Raceway for the latest round of the 2010 Redline Time Attack series.

The Fortune Auto Time Attack Race Team campaigned two Mitsubishi Evolution IXs in the Redline Time Attack East Coast Regional Championship this season.  Their gray Evo, piloted by Whit Staples competed in the Modified AWD class where they scored two 4th place finishes and a 3rd place finish over the course of the 3-event season.  Their consistency landed their Modified AWD car in 2nd place in the championship points standings.

Their white Evo, driven by Todd Reid, was campaigned in the Street Tire AWD class where the team earned a 100% podium average over the course of the three events.  At New Jersey Motorsports Park season opener, the team won the Overall Street Tire Class as well as the Street Tire AWD class followed by a 3rd place finish at Autobahn Country Club, and a 2nd Place finish at Sebring International Raceway.  Their efforts landed them in 2nd place in the Street Tire AWD Championship!  Their Street Tire AWD Class Evo IX runs one of our new Berk Technology High Flow Cats, which the team says provided more power than their previous high flow cat!

Congratulations to Fortune Auto for a fantastic season and two 2nd place championship finishes in the highly competitive Redline Time Attack series!

Fortune Auto Evo IX Gets Another Podium!

August 19, 2010

The Fortune Auto Time Attack Race Team got their third podium finish in a row at the 2010 Redline Time Attack East Coast Finals this past weekend!  The race was held at the famous Sebring International Raceway in the intense central Florida heat, and the boys at Fortune Auto piloted both of their time attack cars to podium finishes.

Their Street Tire AWD Class car (white) runs a Berk Technology high flow catalytic converter and the team has reported back excellent things about the part handling the abuses of time attack in extreme weather conditions.  Todd Reid, driver of the #48 Fortune Auto Street Tire class Evo has finished on the podium at all three East Coast Redline Time Attack events, taking 2nd place at the Sebring finale with a 2:27.285, but it was not easy.  The team suffered from two cracked brake rotors early on limiting Reid’s practice time.  The team sourced some new rotors down in not-so-nearby Miami and pulled off a late night swap on Saturday night to be ready for competition on Sunday.

Todd Reid and the boys at Fortune Auto put in a solid effort this season which started for the East Coast region at New Jersey Motorsports Park where the team grabbed an Overall Street Tire Class and Street Tire AWD Class win.  The next stop on the East Coast tour headed to Autobahn Country Club near Chicago where the team finished third in a seriously close battle.  Add to that the 2nd place finish at the East Coast finals at Sebring and you have a strong effort and huge success!  The Street Tire Class car finished a close 2nd in the East Coast Street Tire AWD Championship behind the Professional Awesome Evo 7 driven by Dan O’Donnell.

Be sure to keep an eye on the Fortune Auto boys as they continue to tear up the track with their stunning pair of Evos!

David Cosseboom regularly competes in SCCA Solo competition in his stunning Project BMW 135i.  A few weeks ago, Cosseboom entered his 135i into the SCCA Kansas City MiDiv Solo race in the highly competitive STU class.  The event was held at the MCC Precision Driving Center in Independence, MO and the STU class was stacked with some very fast Mitsubishi Evos, Subaru STIs, and a BMW M3.

Most people don’t think it can compete in the class that is dominated by the AWD beasts (STIs and EVOs),” says Cosseboom, who has only just begun his second year of autocross.  “I’ve still got a lot of improving to do, especially in a car that is considered an underdog.” – David Cosseboom

Despite throwing himself into a class where he is an underdog, Cosseboom pulled respectable times all day long taking home 7th place in class, a class where all competitors were separated by mere seconds.  Cosseboom was the highest finishing BMW and the highest finishing RWD car in his class!

The Project BMW 135i is a 2008 model year, daily driven by Cosseboom.  The car is mildly modded, but features Berk Technology resonated mid-pipes as well as a Berk Technology Street Performance Axle-Back exhaust.  Cosseboom also takes some styling cues from our own Time Attack BMW 135i running the same APEX ARC-8 wheels in satin black!

Congratulations to David and the Project BMW 135i for a job well done.  Keep up the good work!
